Any color would look good on that Shelby. The puke green proves it, that's part of it's appeal. People see that car and are like "Daaaamn that Shelby even looks good in puke green!"

I was a senior in high school in 1967, grew up in a small town south of Phoenix AZ. One day a new guy moved into town who has just graduated from college with a degree in speech therapy. We got to hanging around together & one day he told me he was going down to Tucson, AZ on the weekend as he had bought a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang I really thought he was just making up a story. Monday afternoon someone rang my doorbell & when I opened the door he was standing there with a big grin on his face & a brand new Shelby GT 500 parked in front of my house. We spent that summer driving around town as well as out at our local 1/4 mile drag strip on Fri. & Sat. nights. Never owned a GT 500, but I did buy a new 1972 Mustang Mach I with a 351 Cleveland from the Ford dealership where my dad was the part manager for 40 yrs. I paid $4,500 brand new.

So he paid how many thousand for an appraisal that was within a G of the guy's valuation who appraised without even moving it? I'd get that old boys number and save some dough next time, then again it looks like Clark and Rusty derive quite a bit of pride from dropping names.

A number of people were giving you grief over the purchase. You hired an appraiser and offered an exceptionally fair price. Many people find that the cost of restoration exceeds what a buyer would pay at auction. It really is a labor of love.

Wow man! This is probably the most perfect "restoration" work i've ever seen! Keeping the car orignal and actually driving it! I would have done it the exact same way. Restoring everything from nuts and bolts to paint on a old car removes the originality. End of story, history.

Incredibly well put, so couldn't agree more. I discovered this when I knew an original car and then saw it after the nut and bolt restoration. It was like, the car is gone.

My dad has a numbers matching 1966 Mustang GT350H and paid 45k for it... Bought it off of someone before Hertz went out of business which has now put it up in value. My favourite mustang is still the GT500, but beggars can't be choosers. We also drive ours, as you should.

I have a lot of respect for this process and this gentleman determined to accomplish it. A bold ego works with this process quite well as it is being shared with us. Car lovers and the rest of us can admire and applaud a piece of automotive history. There are, of course, countless pieces of automotive history; and it a pleasure to see someone able to invest in making this particular piece shine. This is global outreach people, around the world interest. 🙂

4:10 Wow. I was not a fan of the original green paint (for Mustangs, I would prefer the original blue with white stripes or white with blue stripes,) but once they really started cleaning it up and polishing it, it looks really nice. Especially with all black rims and tires...

Dude, i was nearly moved to tears so many times during this project. First, that cat!? I was so hoping you were going to take her with. What a doll! Then, every single decision you made on that car i agreed with 100%! a man after my own heart! wow!!! i'm a musician (as well as an old car/bike lover) and i feel the same way about guitars. Those old faded finishes and paint jobs that come to life after a little lovin' & buffin' but still have the old specs and chips and dents. maybe i'm PMSing but that shit touches my heart. Thank you so sharing this with like-minded people and hopefully changing more people's minds about how they go about restoring ANYTHING old. these beautiful works of art need to be shared and appreciated, not sitting in f'in museums! Anybody can spend countless dollars replacing everything on something old. Chip Foose and such. Too nice and perfect and stripped of all personality. THIS is how you do it. So amazing! I can't couldn't give two shits about Shelbys. LOL! tons of respect for them, and i don't think they're ugly by any means, but i'm a mopar/chevy guy. No matter. You took art and extended its life and i'm and very thankful! ROCK ON!!! can't wait to watch the rest of your vids!

There's enough crazy people like me that would pay you $1,000 for a ride. Whatever the cars future is, I'm glad you got ahold of it and did what you did with it.

To me the Mustang is just not REALLY a muscle car, and it was the ugliest of all the muscle cars. The 442 Oldsmobile, the SS 396, gto, trans am 455, and even though I HATE Doge the road runner, and charger would smoke a Mustang off the road.

It would be more conceivable for me to build a working time machine, travel back to 1967, purchase the Shelby new, and then return via time machine back to the present, than it would be to develop the requisite patience, skill, and commitment to this restoration. I am humbled by your "re-creation". Kudos to all involved.
